Terms of Service

Last updated: October 16, 2026

These terms explain how our services work and what we each agree to when you use notaring.com or book an appointment with us. By booking, you agree to these terms, so please give them a read. We’ve kept them as plain as we can.

Who we are

Notaring (“Notaring”, “we”, “us”) provides online notarization and certified true copies by secure video call. Every appointment is with a commissioned notary public.

What a notary does, and doesn’t do

A notary confirms your identity, administers oaths and declarations, witnesses your signature and certifies copies. A notary doesn’t:

  • Give legal advice or tell you what your document should say
  • Draft, review or fix your document for you
  • Confirm that what you wrote in your document is true. That’s on you, and swearing or declaring something false can have serious legal consequences.

If you need legal advice, please speak with a lawyer before your appointment.

Booking and your appointment

  • Book through our website, upload your document and your government-issued photo ID, and pay when you book.
  • Join on time, from a device with a camera, microphone and a stable internet connection, somewhere quiet and private.
  • Upload your document unsigned. You’ll sign in front of the notary.
  • Everyone who signs must join the call, show their own valid ID and be able to communicate directly with the notary, without an interpreter.
  • For a certified true copy, you’ll share your screen to show the notary where your digital document came from. We can’t certify paper originals online.

When we can’t notarize

To protect you and everyone relying on your document, the notary can decline or stop an appointment if, for example:

  • We can’t verify your identity, or your ID is expired or doesn’t match
  • The document is incomplete, has blank spaces or isn’t one we can do online
  • Someone seems to be signing under pressure, or doesn’t appear to understand the document
  • Someone else is in the room coaching or interfering, or the connection is too poor to continue
  • We suspect fraud or anything illegal

If we decline because of a problem on our end, you’ll get a full refund. Otherwise, the refund rules below apply.

Make sure your document will be accepted

Most offices accept documents notarized online, but some don’t, and some have their own requirements. It’s your responsibility to check with whoever asked for your document that they accept online notarization before you book. Documents that need an apostille or authentication, and paper originals for certified copies, need an in-person notary.

Prices and payment

Our prices are listed on our Pricing page, and you pay when you book. Extras added during your appointment may be invoiced separately. Payments are handled by Stripe, PayPal or Square, and we never see your full card number. We may change our prices at any time, but the price you paid at booking is the price for that appointment.

Cancelling and rescheduling

You can cancel or reschedule from your customer portal up to 1 hour before your appointment. If you miss your appointment without cancelling or rescheduling in time, you won’t get a refund.

Refunds

If your document is rejected because of a mistake on our end, email us at info@notaring.com within 7 days with the details and any proof you have. We’ll make it right with a full refund or a free re-notarization.

We can’t offer a refund for:

  • A document rejected because it was notarized online
  • A mistake in your own document that you need to fix after it’s notarized
  • A document you no longer need
  • A missed appointment, if you didn’t cancel or reschedule at least 1 hour before it starts

Your documents and recordings

Right after your appointment, your notarized document is emailed to you through Adobe Acrobat Sign, and you can also find it in your Adobe account. We delete your ID, the documents you upload and any call recording within 30 days, so download your recording before then. We keep a secure copy of your notarized documents, as the rules for notaries require. You can read more in our Privacy Policy.

Your responsibilities

When you use Notaring, you agree to:

  • Give us true, accurate information and use only your own valid ID
  • Only invite people to your appointment who have agreed to join
  • Not record the call yourself without the notary’s consent
  • Not use our services for anything fraudulent or illegal

Our responsibility to you

We’ll provide our services with care and in line with the rules that apply to notaries. But we can’t control everything, like whether an office accepts your document, your internet connection, or problems with services run by others, such as video, e-signature or payment providers.

To the extent the law allows, our total responsibility for any claim related to an appointment is limited to the amount you paid for that appointment, and we’re not responsible for indirect losses, like lost time, lost opportunities or travel costs. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under consumer protection laws that can’t be waived.

Our website

The content on notaring.com, including our text, design and logo, belongs to Notaring. Our guides and articles are general information, not legal advice. Please don’t copy our content or use our site in a way that could harm it or other users.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time and will change the date at the top when we do. The terms in place when you book apply to that appointment.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
